Genetic alteration of gene: A genomic fragment containing coding sequences for the zinc finger DNA binding domain was replaced with a neomycin selection cassette. Western blot analysis on spleen cells derived from homozygous mice demonstrated that no detectable protein was produced from this allele.

Phenotype Homozygous State Homozygous null mutants develop myocarditis and pulmonary vasculitis, show impaired germinal center formation in the spleen, and display T helper 2 cell hyperimmune responsiveness. Mice frequently die before reaching maturation.
